USA Bombs Taliban Positions in Southern Afghanistan

The US military spokesman in Afghanistan reported that the attack was in response to insurgent actions in the south of the country.

The United States Air Force launched an attack on the Taliban in the Afghan province of Helmand on Wednesday.

The US military spokesman in Afghanistan Colonel Sonny Leggett reported that the attack was in response to insurgent actions against the security forces of the Asian country.

“The United States launched an air strike on March 4 against Taliban fighters in Nahr and Saraj, Helmand, which were actively attacking a checkpoint of the Afghan Armed Forces. It was a defensive coup to thwart an attack. It was our first attack on the Taliban in 11 days, “the military tweeted.

Hours earlier, President Donald Trump said he had a “very good conversation” with the Taliban leader, mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, days after the signing of the peace agreement in Afghanistan.

On March 1, the special representative for the Reconciliation of Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, and the co-founder of the Taliban radical movement, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, signed the agreement on the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and the beginning of the peace process in this Asian country.
