The fear generated by the coronavirus outbreak in Ecuador has forced its authorities to make decisions never seen before.
What the mayor of Guayaquil ordered. Cynthia Viteri, quickly went viral through Facebook and various social networks.
A clip published on Twitter shows how several vehicles blocked the runway and prevented an Iberia airline plane, from Spain, from descending normally at Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport.
All this after the order of the Mayor of Guayaquil, who later confirmed that she is infected with coronavirus.
“I have been infected with coronavirus,” said the official in a video that was also broadcast on Twitter.
She added that although she will be quarantined, she will continue to carry out her duties as an official “protecting all Guayaquil at a time as difficult as this,” she said in a video that is also viral.
The coronavirus has so far killed more than 5,000 people worldwide and the infected number more than 200,000 in nearly 150 countries around the globe.
Italy and Spain are the countries most affected in Europe by the fearsome covid-19.
