Russian Antiaircraft Defense troops have repelled an ‘attack‘ of a simulated enemy during training in the Astrakhan region, in the southwest of the country, carried out in the framework of the Tsentr – 2019 military exercises.
The S-300 Favorit, S-400 Triumf and Pántsir-S air defense systems participated in the maneuvers , while MiG-31, Su-27 and Su-35S fighters provided fire support in the air.
In total, more than 80 aerial targets were intercepted, including attack drones, ballistic and cruise missiles. The military also tested the defense of facilities of strategic importance.
Tsentr – 2019 is a series of military exercises that take place this week in several regions of Russia, mostly central, as well as in training camps for some foreign partners.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, about 130,000 people, more than 20,000 units of military equipment and weapons and about 600 aircraft will participate in the maneuvers, to which units from China, Pakistan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, have been invited. Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well.
