International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) convenes the next session of the Assembly of the Organization, which will be the 40th. The session of the Assembly is held from September 24 to October 4 in Montreal, Canada, at the headquarters of the Organization.
The Assembly will summarize the work of ICAO for the past three-year period 2016-2018, form the program of activities and budget of the Organization for the next three-year period 2019-2021, elect the ICAO Council for the next three-year period, and discuss the most important problems of the global aviation community.
The delegations of 203 ICAO member states will consider a package of proposals for the development of ICAO’s policy in the field of air navigation, aviation security, facilitation, air transport, environmental protection, international air law.
“As follows from the preliminary agenda of the meeting, topical issues of the status and development of international civil aviation related to ensuring flight safety, increasing air navigation capacity and effectiveness of measures taken, strengthening the balance in aviation security and facilitating formalities, maintaining the economic development of air transport supporting the actions to protect the environment from the adverse effects of aviation; we work in the legal field”, noted the ICAO.
The International Civil Aviation Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It codifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth. Its headquarters is located in the Quartier International of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
