He entered the atmosphere at 8:18 p.m. from central Mexico and the perceived explosion has been caused, as usual, by the friction of the rocky material with the atmosphere.
A meteorite has travelled this Wednesday morning the sky of Mexico City. The large fireball has been seen from several of the states that make up the federal republic, such as Jalisco, Guanajuato, Querétaro or Michoacán.
According to the Department of Seismology and Volcanism of the Institute of Geological and Atmospheric Research AC (SIMMSA), the object entered the atmosphere at 8:18 p.m. from central Mexico and the perceived explosion has been caused, as usual, by friction of rocky material with the atmosphere.
According to the institution, it is likely that the meteorite has completely disintegrated before touching the ground. In addition to the cameras that control the seismic and volcanic activity of the country, several users posted photographs and videos of the fireball across the night sky on social networks.
