Single-Engine Plane Crashes On House Killing Two People In North Carolina (VIDEO)

A single-engine plane fell on a house in North Carolina, killing the pilot and a person inside the house, authorities said. Another person in the house suffered serious injuries.

The civilian plane crashed shortly before midnight on Thursday in Hope Mills, according to the state highway patrol. The pilot and one person in the house died on the spot, and another person was hospitalized with serious injuries. The identity of the victims has not been disclosed.

Aerial footage of news helicopters shows a house with half of the roof destroyed and debris on the ground. It is located near National Route 301 about 8 miles southwest of the Fayetteville Regional Airport. It is close to other houses and businesses in the residential neighbourhood.

The cause of the accident is being investigated. State and Cumberland County law enforcement officials awaited the arrival of federal investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration .
