Light aircraft Piper PA-28 crashed in Hunter Valley near Cessnock Airport in Australia. Following the crash, the pilot has managed to walk away without receiving life-threatening injuries. According to witness evidence, the plane rolled multiple times when it came down near Broke Road
The emergency services were called to Wine Country Drive near Broke Road at around 3:30 pm following reports of a light plane crash. Hunter Valley Police District’s Superintendent Chad Gillies said one person was in the light aircraft and made a controlled landing.
Paramedics assessed the pilot, who’s now been taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital for observation. He is complaining of neck pain.
The investigation for the root cause of the crash is underway.
Piper PA-28 Cherokee is a family of two- or four-seat light aircraft built by Piper Aircraft and designed for flight training, air taxi and personal use. The PA-28 family of aircraft comprises all-metal, unpressurized, single-engined, piston-powered airplanes with low-mounted wings and tricycle landing gear. They have a single door on the copilot side, which is entered by stepping on the wing.
